Curriculum Summary

The two-year olds work on a calendar-based curriculum.  For example, when it's September, we count apples, learn school rules, etc.  October, we paint/color with orange, count pumpkins, and do crafts centered around autumn.  Using a wide range of teaching tools, we begin each week with a specific theme.  Each day builds on the next to gradually bring a full understanding of the subject matter to our students.  The goal in Pre-K2 is to instill the love of , and a firm foundation for learning which will help them throughout the coming years.  In this year, they will work toward self-sufficiency; learn basic concepts (colors; counting to 10; name recognition, etc.); and grow physically, mentally, and spiritually.  Our priority is meeting the needs of the whole child; meeting them where they are in life, and helping them grow in confidence and self-esteem.  We believe in showing love; praising the good; disciplining fairly, and in all things, giving God the glory.

Teacher Bio

My name is Stephanie Street and I have been a teacher here at Christ the King for over eight years.  Hailing from Dallas, Texas, my background is Public Relations.  I attended the University of Texas, Arlington, and was a Public Relations Specialist for the Dallas County Community College District for over five years, doing everything from planning concerts with notable artists and musicians and community-wide events, to doing press conferences and news articles for Dallas newspapers.  When my family moved to Memphis sixteen years ago, I wanted a job that would utilize all my skills without all the stress.  God sent me into a preschool setting, and since then, I've never wanted to do anything else!  My favorite age to teach is, and always has been, TWOS.  I love their curiosity; their honesty, their spontaneity, and their joy.  Since children develop 75% of their cognitive skills in this one year, I make it my mission to give them the perfect environment in which to develop those skills.  (It amuses me to say here that their future teachers will spend the next 16 years developing the remaining 25%!)  This, I say to convey the importance I place on this one year in your child's life.  My hobbies are writing children's stories (as yet unpublished), traveling, quilting, and gardening; and I try to incorporate all of these into my classroom.  I am married with one teenage son.

Meg White is our morning assistant for the twos.  She has 12 years of preschool experience.  She is married and has two college-age children.
