Girls in grades 3-8 are eligible to cheer for basketball at Christ the King. No try-outs are required. The cheer program is designed to teach our girls basic cheer, gymnastic and dance moves so that they will be prepared to try out for cheer in high school if they desire. Our program also emphasizes respect for self and others, encouraging positive Christian leadership, and overall fitness/grooming.
Our cheer squad is coached by Stephanie Tabb, a former Bolton High cheerleader and current college student and gymnastics instructor at River City Gymnastics. The squad is sponsored by parents Jennifer Coudriet, Robin Schieber and Heidi Shafer. One of the parent sponsors attend every cheer practice and game for supervision.
Like other CTK athletes, Cougar cheerleaders are required to maintain a minimum grade point average of 2.0 in order to cheer at the games.
Practices are scheduled for Tuesdays from 3:15 - 4:15, and Fridays from 3:15 - 5PM, with periodic summer and weekend "camp" sessions when possible.
