Meet Karen Teal

When did I begin working at Christ the King:  

  • January 1988

The best thing about CTK is:  

  • Integrating the faith in each subject I teach.

Educational Background:

  • Bachelor of Arts degree in Elementary Education from Concordia University, Chicago, IL

Favorite Bible verse/quote:  

  • For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith--and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God--Ephesians 2:8

If I weren't doing what I do today, I would be:  

  • A librarian. I enjoy reading and perusing the stacks. I worked at a library for a short time and liked every aspect of it.

 

What "lesson from mom" do I still live by today:

  • Live according to the JOY acronym:  Jesus, and Others, and You - what a wonderful way to spell JOY!  (She taught this song to her Sunday School kids.)

 

If I could spend a week anywhere in the world, it would be:  

  • Northern Italy, Switzerland, or Australia

Favorite movie of all time:  

  • It's a toss-up between Close Encounters of the Third Kind, The Notebook, and Titanic

Favorite sports team:  

  • No favorites!

Favorite food/restaurant:  

  • Food - fettuccine with shrimp, spinach, and garlic butter; Restaurant - Taziki's Mediterranean Cafe

Best concert I've ever attended:  

  • Three Dog Night with Rod Stewart as the opening act

 

If I could learn to do anything, it would be: 

  • Figure skating. It's such a beautiful sport.

What am I most proud of:  

  • My two precious granddaughters
