Whatever you do, do all to the glory of God. 1 Corinthians 10:31
As players or as spectators, Christ the King students, parents or other fans are expected to display a spirit of dignity and good sportsmanship. Good sportsmanship means that student athletes:
- Never verbally harass, or make ugly remarks, about opposing players, coaches, or fans. Neither do they jeer or otherwise vocally criticize officials.
- Play hard, making every effort to win, but never playing outside the rules.
- Never attempt to injure the opponent.
- Always acknowledge good play, whether by our players or the opposition.
- Neither boast in victory nor complain in defeat.
- Always accept responsibility for one's own mistakes.
Parents, spectators, and students who do not comply with the sportsmanship code may be asked to leave the event.
Participation
For the health and safety of student athletes, a student will not be allowed to participate in a sporting event if they have not been in school for at least the last 2.5 hours of the day of the contest (unless the student has a doctor/dental appointment).
A minimum grade percentage average of 75 is required for participation in a sport. Averages are reported at mid-quarter and at the end of the quarter to the Athletic Director. If the average is less than 75 percent, or a failing grade is recorded in a subject, the student athlete is removed from the sport immediately and has a two week period to clear the deficiency.
