Meet Brooke VanCanneyt

When did I begin working at Christ the King:

  • I began my journey at CTK in 2019.

The best thing about CTK is:

  • My first day teaching at CTK, I immediately noticed students' passion for worshiping God during our morning devotions. I love how everyone is actively involved in growing their Faith in Christ and that we are at a school where we have the ability to do so with abandon.

Educational Background:

  • B.A. in Foreign Language and Literature; University of Memphis, 2014
  • M.Ed. in Elementary Education; Northern Arizona University, 2018

Favorite Bible verse/quote:

  • "I lift up my eyes to the hills. From where does my help come? My help comes from the Lord, who made heaven and earth." Psalm 121:1-2

If I weren't doing what I do today, I would be an:

  • author or book editor

What "lesson from mom" do I still live by today:

  • "Take Jesus with you."

If I could spend a week anywhere in the world, it would be:

  • I would bring a suitcase full of books to a remote island and enjoy my time on the beach with uninterrupted reading.

Favorite movie of all time:

  • I love any Marvel movie and could rewatch them over and over again. If I am feeling more sentimental, my favorite movie would be The Lion King. If we're talking TV, 100% The Office is my top choice.

Favorite sports team:

  • I am not a huge sports fan, but I have to support my Memphis Tigers!

Favorite food/restaurant:

  • If I am craving a burger, Huey's is definitely my number one choice. Muddy's Prozac cupcake is also a top contender.

Best concert I've ever attended:

  • That is a hard choice! I love music and the experience that a concert brings; it would have to be a tie between the Avett Brothers and N'SYNC.

If I could learn to do anything, it would be:

  • I would love to learn how to play the piano. I would also love to learn another language.

What am I most proud of:

  • I am incredibly proud of my family!
