Elementary Advanced and Aided Educational Programs

Christ the King offers additional academic programs to help students achieve to the fullest of their abilities - Horizons, Discoveries, and PLUS.
Christ the King's Horizons program is designed for students in grades 1-5th who show academic giftedness. Students must meet certain academic parameters to be accepted into the Horizons program. The curriculum is developed to challenge the interests and strengths of the students by incorporating Bloom’s Taxonomy and Gardner’s Multiple Intelligences. In Horizons, students will: Use problem solving activities that utilize higher order thinking skills of analysis, synthesis, and evaluation; Exhibit verbal and non-verbal communication skills; Organize facts to develop an informative, creative product; Identify problems and use organized approaches to solve them; Develop a leadership role through writing and speaking opportunities; Improve the ability to be a risk taker without the fear of failure; Develop positive interpersonal skills in group situations; and Strive for originality in an area of talent that will further develop creative thinking skills.

Discoveries provides individualized or small group (2-4 students) instruction for students with mild learning difficulties or remedial needs in language arts (reading) and mathematics. Small classes, positive learning experiences, and the use of multiple teaching techniques provide a supportive and successful environment for helping these students to reach their academic potential. Available to students in grades 1-8. Additional tuition is charged for this program.

PLUS is designed to provide an opportunity for a Christian education to students who have been diagnosed with a learning disability. Students should have a current evaluation for admittance into the PLUS program. Our staff works with you to develop an individualized service plan. PLUS is a multi-grade, multi-age level class with a ratio of one teacher for every five children. Students are also integrated in their grade level activities daily. This program has its own tuition schedule and is available to students in grades 1-6.
